Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandaviya, a dedicated public servant and accomplished leader, is our esteemed Chief Guest. Born on June 1, 1972, in the small village of Hanol, Gujarat, he has risen from humble beginnings to hold significant positions in the Indian government.
Early Life and Education:
Raised in a middle-class farming family, Mr. Mandaviya completed his primary education in his village and high school at Songadh Gurukul.
He furthered his education with a certificate in Veterinary Live Stock Inspection, studied at Gujarat Agriculture University, and earned a Master's degree in Political Science from Bhavnagar University.
In 2021, he attained a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Gujarat Institute of Development Research.
Political Journey:
Mr. Mandaviya's political career is marked by a series of impactful roles:
- He began as a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and quickly rose through the ranks.
- In 2002, he was elected as the youngest Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Gujarat.
- He served as Chairman of the Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Limited in 2010.
- From 2012 to 2018, and again from 2018 to 2024, he served as a Member of Rajya Sabha.
- He held key ministerial positions, including Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, and Chemicals and Fertilizers.
- In 2021, he became the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, playing a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Currently, since 2024, he is the Union Minister of Labour and Employment and also the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.
- He is also a Lok Sabha member from Porbandar, Gujarat.
